Here’s why solar panels don’t do much for your home’s resale value.
Today we’re talking all about solar panels. I’ve been getting a lot of questions from homeowners who are considering adding them and want to know if they will raise the value of their homes. In my experience, I haven’t seen any high values being given to homes sold with solar panels. In most cases, it’s more of a hindrance than a help.
If you have a home with solar panels on it, you have three options. The first option is to pay off the solar panels in full, but in many cases, homeowners don’t have the cash or equity to cover this. The second option is to sell the solar panel lease to the buyer, who will most likely be reluctant to take on the extra payment.

Finally, you may be able to move the solar panels to your new home depending on the company you used to install them. One concern that comes to mind is that the roof could be damaged by removing solar panels, and you may need to fix that as a result.
